Optical Toys does for Thomas Edison what it did for Eadweard Muybridge by giving him his own series of flipbooks. Four books showing seven experimental film sequences shot by the Edison Laboratories in the earliest days of motion pictures. Each book is printed with a sequence on both sides of each page, so that flipping the book from front to back will show you one movie, and from back to front will show you another one. The books are a large 3 x 5 inches. Except where we felt there is historical value, all the images of the sequences have been painstakingly edited to present as clear an image as possible. Each book comes with historical insights by Charles Musser of Yale University, who has written extensively about Edisons work and is the worlds most widely respected contemporary Edison scholar.
